Dawn at Canary Springs, Mammoth Hot Springs area. The colors come from different types of bacterial that live in different temperature waters. The white areas are now dry, and so have no bacterial mats.
This area was along the road north of Roaring Mountain. It was about 25F and there was frost over all the grasses, contrasting with the steam rising from the hot spring runoff. This is a tonemapped single image trying to capture what I saw.

Beehive geyser in the morning light. Beehive is unpredictable, but usually erupts at least once a day, and can shoot more than 180 feet high. The steam plume in the background is Old Faithful geyser.
Lion geyser eruption. Lion is unpredictable, but usually goes in a series of 3 events about an hour apart. I waited about 45 minutes for this one. Luckily the sun was in the right spot to give a rainbow in the geyser steam!
Sawmill geyser in the Upper Geyser basin. Although it only erupts to about 10-12 feet high, it's going almost all the time and is very close to the boardwalk.
Grand Geyser goes off every 12 hours, +/- 2 hours, and can hit almost 200 feet in height. It was worth the almost 3 hour wait!
Daisy Geyser, in the Upper Geyser Basin, can shoot more than 75 feet high, and erupts approximately every 3-4 hours.

Great Fountain geyser can erupt to more than 80 feet high, and an event lasts more than 20 minutes.
